Kamekona, 36, will work with the Guardians’ developmental players.
She was a two-time third-team All-American for the Bruins and set a school record with eight RBIs in one game.
Kamekona’s hiring continues a recent push for more women in baseball.
Last season, the New York Yankees made Rachel Balkovec the first woman to manage a minor league affiliate with their Class-A team in Tampa, Fla.
On April 12, 2022, the San Francisco Giants made Alyssa Nakken the first female coach to appear in a regular-season game when she coached first base against the San Diego Padres.
