Mookie Betts hit a two-run home run and Tony Gonsolin pitched five scoreless innings as the Los Angeles Dodgers continued their dominance over the visiting San Diego Padres with a 4-0 victory Sunday.

Rookie Miguel Vargas had a two-run double for the Dodgers to finish off a three-game sweep that was their 11th consecutive regular-season series victory over the Padres. Los Angeles has gone 28-6 against San Diego in that stretch.

Gonsolin (1-1) gave up two hits with one walk and six strikeouts over 85 pitches in his fourth start of the season while lowering his ERA to 1.42. The first-time All-Star in 2022 started the season on the injured list with a sprained ankle.

Padres left-hander Ryan Weathers (1-2) gave up four runs over 5 2/3 innings in his return to the major leagues as San Diego saw its losing streak reach five games. Weathers started the season in the major leagues but was optioned to Triple-A El Paso on April 26.

San Diego had just three hits, with one of those against four Dodgers relievers. Manny Machado went 0-for-3 for the Padres with a walk and was 0-for-11 in the series.

Weathers was solid the first time through the Dodgers’ order, but he gave up a double to No. 8 hitter Miguel Rojas in the third inning. Betts cashed in that runner from the leadoff spot with a home run to center field, his ninth of the season.

In the sixth inning, the Dodgers’ Freddie Freeman singled and Max Muncy walked with two outs. Weathers was replaced by right-hander Brent Honeywell and Vargas ripped the first pitch he saw into the left-field corner to score both runners.

Dodgers relievers Yency Almonte, Victor Gonzalez, Brusdar Graterol and Justin Bruihl held the Padres scoreless on a hit over the last four innings.

The Dodgers have won five of six games against the Padres this season after taking a series at San Diego last weekend. Los Angeles pitching held San Diego to two runs or less in each of the five victories.
