The Los Angeles Dodgers activated left-handed pitcher Clayton Kershaw from the bereavement list on Friday.

In a corresponding move, the club optioned right-hander Tayler Scott to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Also on Friday, the Dodgers claimed right-hander Zack Burdi off waivers from the Tampa Bay Rays, while right-hander Tyler Cyr (shoulder) was transferred to the 60-day IL.

Kershaw, 35, was placed on the list on Monday following the death of his mother, Marianne Tombaugh. He is scheduled to start Saturday on the road against the Tampa Bay Rays.

On the season, Kershaw is 6-4 with a 2.98 ERA. The three-time National League Cy Young Award winner has a career 203-91 record with a 2.49 ERA in 16 seasons.

Scott, 30, did not make an appearance with the Dodgers. At Oklahoma City this season, the reliever is 1-0 with a 1.08 ERA and 29 strikeouts against 10 walks in 16 games.

Burdi, 28, will not have to go far to join his new club after he was designated for assignment by the Tampa Bay Rays earlier this week. The Dodgers and Rays open a series at St. Petersburg, Fla., on Friday. Burdi, who was drafted six picks ahead of Dodgers catcher Will Smith in 2016 out of Louisville, will be reunited with his college teammate on the Dodgers.

Burdi struggled in three outings with the Rays this season. In 18 career relief appearances with the Chicago White Sox (2020-21), Baltimore Orioles (2021) and Rays, he is 0-1 with an 8.44 ERA.
