MLB: A’s activate Aledmys Diaz from 60-day IL

The Oakland Athletics activated third baseman Aledmys Diaz from the 60-day injured list Tuesday, while third baseman Tyler Nevin was designated for assignment.

Diaz, 33, has been on the IL since the start of the season with a strained right calf. He batted .229 with four home runs and 24 RBIs for the A’s last season, and in eight major league seasons, with four clubs, he is a career .261 hitter with 78 home runs and 293 RBIs.

Nevin, who turns 27 Wednesday, batted .220 with four home runs and 10 RBIs after joining Oakland via waiver claim earlier this season. In four major league seasons with three clubs, Nevin is a .208 hitter with nine home runs and 39 RBIs.
