Albert Pujols and Miguel Cabrera will play in the 2022 All-Star Game on July 19 at Dodger Stadium, commissioner Rob Manfred announced Friday.

Pujols and Cabrera are two of only three players in baseball history with 3,000 hits, 500 homers and 600 doubles, along with the late Hall of Famer Hank Aaron.

“Albert and Miguel are two of the most accomplished players of their generation,” Manfred said in a news release. “They have also represented the baseball traditions of the Dominican Republic and Venezuela with excellence for the last two decades. Albert and Miguel are two all-time greats whose achievements warrant this special recognition.”

Pujols, 42, is playing his 22nd and final season. Returning for his 12th season with the St. Louis Cardinals this year, he is batting .200 with four homers and 18 RBIs in 45 games.

This is the 11th All-Star selection for Pujols, a three-time National League MVP who entered Friday with 3,326 hits, 683 home runs and 2,168 RBIs in 3,016 games with the Cardinals (2001-11, 2022), Los Angeles Angels (2012-21) and Los Angeles Dodgers (2021).

Cabrera, 39, is in his 20th season, his 15th with the Detroit Tigers. He is batting .308 with three home runs and 31 RBIs in 70 games.

This marks the 12th All-Star selection for Cabrera, a two-time American League MVP and 2012 Triple Crown winner who entered Friday with 3,065 hits, 505 home runs and 1,835 RBIs in 2,657 games with the then-Florida Marlins (2003-07) and Tigers.
