Dwayne “CleffTheGod” Wood pulled out a 37-34 overtime win over “VELUSJONES” to capture the Madden Zero Chill Challenge championship on Wednesday.

VELUSJONES got a 24-yard field goal to open overtime. CleffTheGod then needed just two plays to drive for the winning touchdown, a 67-yard pass from a virtual Baker Mayfield to a virtual Jerry Jeudy.

The victory gave CleffTheGod, a longtime contender in major events, his first Madden Championship Series title belt.

“I can’t even put it into words, man,” CleffTheGod said after the win. “All the work I put in recently. … To see Jeudy come open, I was kind of setting him up with that. … As soon as I saw it, I thought, ‘Please don’t overthrow it.'”

Referring to the overtime win in the final and a 48-43 victory over “cactijack” in the semifinals, CleffTheGod said, “I’m tested. I’m a dog. People say they’re a dog; they ain’t really a dog like I am.”

VELUSJONES, who was competing in his first live Madden major tournament, prevailed 21-13 in the semifinals against “EyeWantNumberTwo.”

The quarterfinals saw CleffTheGod rout “fancy214_” 33-13, cactijack eliminate “Cm224” 30-6, VELUSJONES edge “vohes” 31-28 and EyeWantNumberTwo down “Cobo.” 23-20.

Next up on the Madden Championship Series calendar is the Last Chance Qualifier in mid-January. The playoffs are scheduled for late January ahead of the Madden Bowl on Feb. 7.
