Golden Guardians released three players from their League of Legends roster, all of whom most recently played at the academy level.
The biggest name released was Leandro “Newbie” Marcos, who started last season as Golden Guardians’ starting support. The 24-year-old from Argentina was demoted to the academy team in May after signing with Golden Guardians last November.
He was replaced by first-year League Championship Series player Jonathan “Chime” Pomponio.
Also let go were academy jungler Tae-ho “Timothy” Kim, who goes by RoseThorn, and mid laner Jong-yun “Jay” Cho, better known as Yunbee.
RoseThorn and Yunbee started the 2021 season on the Golden Guardians roster but played only for the academy team.
League of Legends free agency begins Monday night.
