Last place TSM ended Cloud9’s eight-match winning streak to highlight the first day of Week 7 of the League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) Spring Split.
Playing on red, TSM (3-11) defeated Cloud9 (11-3) in 36 minutes. Edward “Tactical” Ra of the U.S. led the win with a kills-deaths-assists ratio of 9-1-8. Kim “Berserker” Minn-cheol of South Korea finished at 4-3-2 for Cloud9.
Team Liquid (11-3) took advantage of Cloud9’s loss and moved into a first-place tie by beating Counter Logic Gaming in 28 minutes. Liquid, also playing on red, was led by Gabriel “Bwipo” Rau of Belgium with a K-D-A of 6-2-6. Thomas “Jenkins” Tran of the U.S. was at 3-6-1 for CLG.
In other matches, 100 Thieves (9-5) are alone in third place after beating Immortals (4-10) in 31 minutes. Thieves were also playing on red. They were led by Felix “Abbedagge” Braun of Germany with a K-D-A of 7-1-3, and Noh “Arrow” Dong-hyeon of South Korea was at 3-1-0 for Immortals.
Evil Geniuses and Dignitas are each 7-7 for the competition after the Geniuses defeated Dignitas in 33 minutes on red. Kacper “Inspired” Stoma of Poland posted a 5-0-1 for the winners, and no players had more than one kill for Dignitas.
In the final match of the day, Golden Guardians (6-8) defeated FlyQuest (7-7) in 27 minutes, winning on blue. Nicholas Antonio “Ablazeolive” Abbott of Canada finished at 5-1-5 for Guardians, while Johnson “Johnsun” Nguyen of Canada led FlyQuest at 2-2-0.
The group stage (Feb. 5-March 27) consists of a double round robin with each team playing 18 matches (best of one), with the top six teams qualifying to play in the playoffs. The top four finishers will split a $200,000 prize pool, with first place taking home $100,000.
