Cloud9 and FlyQuest each earned their first wins of the League Championship Series Summer Split to kick off Week 2 on Saturday.
After both teams took 2-0 losses to begin the event, FlyQuest swept Dignitas 2-0, while Cloud9 bested Disguised 2-1. Both losing teams fell to 0-2 in the League of Legends event.
The LCS Summer Split is an eight-team event that began July 25 and will run through the finals in October. The seven-week round-robin regular season — in which all teams play each other once in a best-of-three match — will set the field for the six-team playoffs.
The top two teams in the regular season will advance to the playoff semifinals, while the third- through sixth-place teams will advance to the quarters. The bottom two teams in the standings are eliminated.
The playoffs, which run Sept. 12 through Oct. 4, are best-of-five and double elimination. The top three teams will advance to the World Championships, played in New York, Los Angeles and Allen, Texas, from Oct. 15 through Nov. 14.
FlyQuest won in 42 minutes on red before clinching with a 28-minute victory on blue over Disguised. U.S./Vietnamese competitor Johnson “Gryffinn” Le led FlyQuest with a 17-5-19 kill-death-assist ratio.
Cloud9’s win was tougher to come by as Dignitas won the opening map in 37 minutes on blue before Cloud9 rallied with a 30-minute triumph on red and a 32-minute clincher on blue. Robert “Blaber” Huang and South Korea’s Lee “Loki” Sang-min co-helmed the Cloud9 comeback with K-D-A ratios of 17-7-31 and 18-12-30, respectively.
Week 2 of the LCS Summer Split concludes Sunday with two matches:
