Jeff Garlin Star of ‘The Goldbergs’ Parts Ways Amid On-Set Misconduct Allegations

Celebrity comedian Jeff Garlin in a mutual decision was asked to part ways with the ABC TV show, ” The Goldbergs.” ABC studios is owned by Sony Pictures television.

The decision was mutual between the TV show and Garlin. He was asked to leave immediately and the 9th season will be filmed without him.

The allegations against the actor have not been made public yet. However, employees from the show said to Variety Magazine that Garland was abusive both physically and verbally. The magazine also reported that he was under investigation of the human resources department for three years.

Garlin is saying that there was just a difference of opinion and that’s why it was a mutual decision to have him leave.

There was one alleged incident toward Garland that involved a stand in. The allegations say there was a verbal and physical altercation. Garland denies this and says that it was just a joke that you didn’t get.

Garlin said this was a “difference of opinion” between himself and Sony. “My opinion is, I have my process about how I’m funny, in terms of the scene and what I have to do,” he said. “They feel that it makes for a quote ‘unsafe’ workspace. Now, mind you, my silliness making an unsafe workspace — I don’t understand how that is. And I’m on a comedy show. I am always a kind and thoughtful person. I make mistakes, sure. But my comedy is about easing people’s pain. Why would I ever want to cause pain in anybody for a laugh? That’s bullying. That’s just uncalled for.” Source Variety Magazine
