Team Yandex advanced to the grand final on a day of sweeps at PGL Wallachia Season 9 on Saturday in Bucharest, Romania.
LGD Gaming, which lost to Team Yandex in the upper-bracket final, faces Natus Vincere in the lower-bracket final on Sunday to determine Yandex’s opponent in the grand final later in the day.
The $1 million Dota 2 tournament began with 16 teams playing in a modified Swiss system format.
All matches in the double-elimination playoff bracket are best-of-three until the best-of-five grand final on Sunday. The winning team will take home $300,000.
On Saturday, Team Yandex downed LGD Gaming 2-0 in the upper-bracket final, winning in 44 minutes and 53 minutes, both on Dire. Jordan’s Ammar “ATF” Al-Assaf paced Team Yandex with a 30-6-31 kill-death-assist ratio, while teammate Alimzhan “watson” Islambekov of Kazakhstan had a 21-5-26 K-D-A ratio.
Natus Vincere topped Aurora Gaming 2-0 in one lower-bracket quarterfinal, winning in 45 minutes and 44 minutes, both on Dire. Yurii “pma” Prots had a 24-7-26 K-D-A for Natus Vincere, while fellow Ukrainian teammate Artem “Niku” Bachkur posted a 24-6-31 ratio.
Xtreme Gaming knocked out GamerLegion in a sweep in the other lower-bracket quarterfinal, winning in 43 minutes on Dire and 54 minutes on Radiant. China’s Wang “Ame” Chunyu led Xtreme Gaming with a 20-5-26 K-D-A, while Malaysian teammate Nicholas “zeal” Lim Eng Han contributed a 5-9-36 ratio.
Natus Vincere met Xtreme Gaming in the lower-bracket semifinal and emerged with a 2-0 decision, winning in 42 and 24 minutes, both on Dire. Prots had an 11-0-14 K-D-A, Bachkur had a 16-3-12 K-D-A and Taras “gotthejuice” Linnikov of Ukraine produced a 15-3-10 ratio.
