Gaimin Gladiators swept Team Liquid on Saturday to earn a berth in the grand final of the $500,000 Dota Pro Circuit Lima Major.

Team Liquid falls into the lower bracket and will meet Talon Esports on Sunday. The winner of that match then will face Gladiators for the title.

Talon won two matches on Saturday to keep their hopes alive. They blanked Entity, and also eliminated Shopify Rebellion 2-1.

The Lima Major is the first major of the Dota Pro Circuit 2023 season and the first DPC major ever held in South America. The 18-team event consists of four teams each from Western Europe and China, three each from Southeast Asia and Eastern Europe and two each from North America and South America.

A pair of nine-team groups held round-robin play last week, with all matches best-of-two. The top four teams from each group advanced to the upper bracket of the playoffs, and the fifth- and sixth-place teams in each group moved on to the lower bracket.

The grand final will be the only best-of-five match of the tournament. The winner will take home $200,000 and 400 DPC points. Second is worth $100,000 and 350 points.

The Gladiators won the first map in 39 minutes while playing on red, then picked up green and claimed victory in 34 minutes. “Quinn” posted a 13.5/2.0/18.5 average kills/deaths/assists ratio for the winners. “m1CKe” led Liquid at 7.5/6.6/5.5.

Both of Talon’s wins came on red and in 35 minutes. “Katana” finished at 11.0/1.0.13.5 for Talon, while “Death” led Entity at 5.0/3.5/6.5.

Talon had to work harder to defeat Team Spirit, which won the first map on red in 37 minutes. But Talon recovered with wins in 42 minutes on green and 55 minutes on red.
