CALLOFDUTY: Thieves post two wins in CDL Major II

The Los Angeles Thieves won two elimination-bracket matches on Friday to stay alive in the Call of Duty League Major II at Boston.

The Thieves downed the New York Subliners 3-0 after sweeping the Florida Mutineers 3-0. The Subliners won their earlier match 3-1 over the London Royal Ravens.

In other first-round matches in the elimination bracket, the Los Angeles Guerrillas edged the Vegas Legion 3-2 and the host Boston Breach topped the Seattle Surge 3-1. The Guerrillas and the Breach will square off on Saturday.

In the second round of the winners bracket on Saturday, the Atlanta FaZe will oppose the Toronto Ultra before the Minnesota Rokkr will face OpTic Texas.

The Thieves took three close maps against the Subliners, prevailing 250-246 on Breenbergh Hotel Hardpoint, 6-4 on El Asilo Search and Destroy and 3-2 on Breenbergh Hotel Control.

The United States’ Dylan “Envoy” Hannon logged 67 kills and a 1.05 kill-death ratio for the Thieves. France’s Paco “HyDra” Rusiewiez produced 79 kills and a 1.22 K-D ratio for the Subliners.

New York opened its first Friday match with a 250-164 win over London on Breenbergh Hotel Hardpoint. The Royal Ravens took Mercado Las Almas Search and Destroy 6-2, but the Subliners then sealed the series by capturing Breenbergh Hotel Control 3-1 and Al Bagra Fortress Hardpoint 250-165.

The United States’ Matthew “KiSMET” Tinsley topped the Subliners with 82 kills, while his countryman and teammate Cesar “Skyz” Bueno had a squad-best 1.45 K-D ratio. Canada’s Obaid “Asim” Asim notched 71 kills and a 0.80 K-D ratio for the Royal Ravens.

The Thieves cruised past the Mutineers 250-192 on Breenbergh Hotel Hardpoint, 6-4 on Al Bagra Fortress Search and Destroy and 3-0 on Breenbergh Hotel Control.

The United States’ Zack “Drazah” Jordan registered 48 kills and a 1.37 K-D ratio for the Thieves. Spain’s Javier “Vikul” Milagro wound up with 39 kills and a 0.85 K-D ratio for the Mutineers.

Seattle earned a 250-136 win on Embassy Hardpoint before Boston stormed back to capture the next three maps: 6-2 on Embassy Search and Destroy, 3-0 on Al Bagra Fortress Control and 250-239 on Al Bagra Fortress Hardpoint.

The United States’ Joseph “Owakening” Conley logged 75 kills and a 1.09 K-D ratio for the Breach. Australia’s Amer “Pred” Zulbeari finished with 86 kills and a 1.10 K-D ratio for the Surge.

The Guerrillas and the Legion alternated wins and losses through their five-map showdown. Los Angeles took Al Bagra Fortress Hardpoint 250-232 before Vegas captured Mercado Las Almas Search and Destroy 6-4. The Guerrillas won El Asilo Control 3-2, but the Legion responded by taking Breenbergh Hotel Hardpoint 250-204. Los Angeles sealed the series with a 6-2 decision on El Asilo Search and Destroy.

The United States’ Joe “JoeDeceives” Romero topped the Guerrillas with 89 kills and a 1.14 K-D ratio. Another U.S. player, James “Clayster” Eubanks, amassed 95 kills and a 1.16 K-D ratio for the Legion.
