CALLOFDUTY: OpTic improve to 4-0 in CDL Major IV qualifying

First-place OpTic Texas improved to 4-0 in the Call of Duty League’s Major IV qualifying Friday.

OpTic kicked off the final week of qualifying by sweeping the Los Angeles Guerrillas 3-0, while the Vegas Legion beat Toronto Ultra 3-2 and the Atlanta FaZe topped the Minnesota Rokkr, also 3-2.

Major IV qualifying, which includes all 12 Call of Duty League teams, runs through April 16, with each victory worth 10 CDL points.

Texas beat Los Angeles 250-169 on Al Bagra Fortress Hardpoint before eking out a 6-5 victory on Mercado Las Almas Search and Destroy and a 3-2 win on El Asilo Control.

Cuyler “Huke” Garland led OpTic with 72 kills and a plus-1.29 kills-deaths ratio. Teammate Anthony “Shotzzy” Cuevas-Castro added 70 kills on a plus-1.19.

Vegas fell behind early when Toronto won 250-181 on Mercado Las Almas Hardpoint. The Legion responded by winning 6-4 on Mercado Las Almas Search and Destroy, then moved ahead 2-1 with a 3-2 victory on Himmelmatt Expo Control. The Ultra stayed alive by winning 250-193 on Al Bagra Fortress Hardpoint, but on the deciding map, Vegas pulled out a 6-5 triumph on Breenbergh Hotel Search and Destroy.

Eli “Standy” Bentz powered the Legion’s win with 114 kills on a stellar plus-1.52 K/D ratio. Donovan “Temp” Laroda added 93 kills with a plus-1.18 for Vegas.

The FaZe got off to a 2-0 start by routing the Rokkr 250-75 on Zarqwa Hydroelectric Hardpoint and winning 6-4 on Mercado Las Almas Search and Destroy. Minnesota clawed back with a 3-2 win on Himmelmatt Expo Control and a 250-237 nailbiter on Mercado Las Almas Hardpoint. But Atlanta prevailed on the do-or-die fifth map, taking Breenbergh Hotel Search and Destroy 6-5.

Tyler “aBeZy” Pharris starred for the FaZe with 113 kills and a plus-1.36 ratio.

–Florida Mutineers vs. Vegas Legion
–Boston Breach vs. OpTic Texas
–Seattle Surge vs. Atlanta FaZe
