CALLOFDUTY: Legion upset OpTic in CDL Major II qualifying

OpTic Texas took their first loss in Call of Duty League Major II qualifying, falling 3-1 to the Vegas Legion on Saturday.

OpTic saw its record fall to 3-1, while Vegas improved to 2-3.

The Toronto Ultra (4-1) took over first place with a 3-1 win over the Los Angeles Guerrillas (2-3).

In other Saturday action, the Boston Breach (3-1) produced a 3-1 victory over the Florida Mutineers (2-3), and the Seattle Surge (1-3) emerged with a 3-1 win over the New York Subliners (3-2).

After Vegas claimed Mercado Las Almas Hardpoint 250-228, OpTic bounced back to take Mercado Las Almas Search and Destroy 6-4. The Legion then captured Breenbergh Hotel Control 3-2 and Zarqwa Hydroelectric Hardpoint 250-173.

The United States’ Thomas “TJHaLy” Haly logged 76 kills and a 1.03 kill-death ratio for the Legion.

Florida’s 250-241 triumph on Zarqwa Hydroelectric Hardpoint was followed by Boston wins on Embassy Search and Destroy, 6-2; El Asilo Control, 3-1; and Embassy Hardpoint, 250-126.

The United States’ Reece “Vivid” Drost racked up 88 kills and a 1.19 K-D ratio for the Breach.

The Guerrillas opened with a 250-219 win on Breenbergh Hotel Hardpoint before the Ultra took the next three maps: 6-4 on Mercado Las Almas Search and Destroy, 3-0 on Breenbergh Hotel Control and 250-88 on Zarqwa Hydroelectric Hardpoint.

Denmark’s Tobias “CleanX” Juul Jonsson paced the Ultra with 79 kills and a 1.36 K-D ratio.

Seattle began by winning Breenbergh Hotel Hardpoint 250-171, and New York responded with a 6-5 victory on El Asilo Search and Destroy. The Surge then took Al Bagra Fortress Control 3-1 and Al Bagra Fortress Hardpoint 250-197.

Australia’s Amer “Pred” Zulbeari posted 92 kills and a 1.33 K-D ratio for the Surge.

Major II, which will include all 12 Call of Duty League teams, is scheduled to be played in Boston from Thursday through Feb. 5. Qualifying for the event concludes on Sunday with three matches:

–Minnesota Rokkr vs. Seattle Surge
–Los Angeles Thieves vs. Boston Breach
–OpTic Texas vs. Atlanta FaZe
