Boxing: Terence Crawford batters Errol Spence Jr. for welterweight supremacy

Terence Crawford pounded out a ninth-round TKO over Errol Spence Jr. to claim the undisputed welterweight title in Las Vegas on Saturday night.

Crawford, of Omaha, Neb., who already held the WBO belt, added the WBC, WBA and IBF in running his record to 40-0 with 31 knockouts. The 35-year-old is a three-time division champion and formerly was the undisputed junior welterweight champion.

Crawford knocked Spence down once in the second round and twice in the seventh. The fight was halted at 2:32 of the ninth round.

Spence, 33, of Desoto, Texas, took his first professional loss. He is 28-1 with 22 knockouts.
