Former world heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder ended a losing streak by stopping Tyrrell Herndon in the seventh round on Friday in Wichita, Kan.

Wilder (44-4-1, 43 KOs) dominated en route to the technical knockout.

Fighting for the first time in more than a year, Wilder had lost each of his two most recent fights, to Joseph Parker in 2023 and Zhilei Zhang in 2024, and four of his past five. The other defeats in that span both came against Tyson Fury, in 2020 and 2021.

Herndon (24-6, 15 KOs) also ended a one-year layoff. He went to a knee after being hit by a Wilder left-handed punch in the seventh round. When action resumed, the referee stopped the fight after Wilder landed with his right.

A left jab from Wilder knocked down Herndon in the second round.

On the undercard, Nico Hernandez scored a technical knockout against Robert Ledesma in the second round of a super bantamweight bout, and Deon Nicholson stopped Devonte Williams with a fourth-round TKO in a light heavyweight fight.
