NCAAF: Four-star WR Eugene Wilson III commits to Florida

Four-star recruit Eugene Wilson III announced Friday he would stay close to home and play his college football at Florida.

The Tampa native is listed as an “athlete” and rated No. 147 overall in the Class of 2023 by 247Sports’ composite rankings. A two-way player who plays both wide receiver and defensive back, Wilson is expected to play receiver in Gainesville.

Texas A&M was also in the running for Wilson’s services.

Wilson, listed at 5-foot-11 and 165 pounds, becomes the highest-rated prospect (per 247Sports) in the Gators’ 2023 class, which also includes four-star quarterback Marcus Stokes. It is the first recruiting cycle for new head coach Billy Napier, who took the job this offseason after previously coaching Louisiana.
