Team SMG, a Malaysian Dota 2 club that failed to qualify for the upcoming International 10, released Damien “kpii” Chok on Wednesday.

kpii, a 28-year-old Australian, was with SMG for just under six months. During his stay, SMG came in second place in the Dota Pro Circuit’s Season 2 Southeast Asia Lower Division. However, they tied for seventh in the Southeast Asian qualifier for The International and didn’t advance.

SMG tweeted Wednesday in saying farewell to kpii, “It’s been a fun run. If anyone could play on high ping and still (win) his lane, it’d be kpii.”

kpii played for Newbee in 2017 when the team placed second at The International, esports’ most lucrative event. He was on the same team when it tied for 13th at The International 2018, then was part of a Mineski side that tied for ninth at The International 2019.

SMG won one event this year, the Tier 3 OB.Moon Asian Arena last week.
