The Colorado Avalanche acquired forward Lars Eller from the Washington Capitals on Wednesday in exchange for a second-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft.

The Capitals will retain 31 percent of Eller’s salary as part of the trade.

Eller, 33, collected 16 points (seven goals, nine assists) in 60 games this season with Washington.

He has 364 points (160 goals, 204 assists) in 930 games over 14 seasons with the St. Louis Blues, Montreal Canadiens and Capitals.

St. Louis drafted the Denmark native in the first round (13th overall) in 2007. He won a Stanley Cup with Washington in 2018.

The Capitals now own 22 total picks in the next three drafts: five in 2023, eight in 2024 and nine in 2025.
