Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg is expanding his real estate empire with a massive purchase in one of America’s most exclusive neighborhoods. The Facebook founder has acquired a waterfront estate on Miami’s Indian Creek Island for a reported $200 million, placing him in the company of other business titans and celebrities.
The property, located on the man-made barrier island often called the “Billionaire Bunker,” was purchased from an entity linked to Jersey Mike’s founder Peter Cancro. While the deal hasn’t been publicly listed—common for high-end transactions conducted through holding companies—the price point was confirmed by multiple outlets, including The Wall Street Journal, which first reported the sale.
This purchase puts Zuckerberg in prime proximity to other notable residents, including Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, investor Carl Icahn, and former NFL quarterback Tom Brady. The 300-acre island in Biscayne Bay is home to only about 30 estates, a golf course, and an exclusive country club.
A Strategic Investment?
The nearly 2-acre property features expansive water frontage, lush lawns, and a dock. The dock could be a key amenity for Zuckerberg, allowing him direct access from his reported $300 million superyacht, Launchpad.
From a financial perspective, the move offers a significant tax advantage. Florida has no state personal income tax, which can lead to substantial savings for high-net-worth individuals compared to states like California. It’s unclear if this purchase signals a permanent move from his other holdings in Palo Alto, Lake Tahoe, Hawaii, and Washington D.C., or if it’s simply a strategic addition to his portfolio.
Construction appears to be ongoing at the site. According to neighbor Irma Braman, wife of billionaire auto dealer Norman Braman, Zuckerberg has indicated he plans to move in by April. “We’re happy to have him,” Braman told the WSJ.
This latest acquisition adds another prime asset to Zuckerberg’s holdings and further cements Indian Creek’s reputation as a hub for the world’s financial elite.
