Ukrainian No. 6 seed Marta Kostyuk needed only 57 minutes Friday to defeat third-seeded Emma Raducanu of Great Britain 6-2, 6-1, in the quarterfinals of the Transylvania Open at Cluj-Napoca, Romania.

Kostyuk smashed four aces, while Raducanu committed seven double faults without serving an ace. It was the 18-year-old Raducanu’s second tournament since winning the U.S. Open and the first where she won at least one match.

The top two seeds will be playing in the semifinals after Romanian top seed Simona Halep took down countrywoman Jaqueline Cristian 6-1, 6-1, and No. 2 seed Anett Kontaveit of Estonia beat No. 8 seed Anhelina Kalinina of Ukraine 6-3, 6-1.

They’ll be joined by Sweden’s Rebecca Peterson, who outlasted Ukraine’s Lesia Tsurenko 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 in an hour and 57 minutes. Peterson will face Kontaveit and home favorite Halep will meet Kostyuk.

Courmayeur Ladies Open

No. 7 seed Jasmine Paolini continued a stellar run in her home country, prevailing in a second-set tiebreak to dispatch Ukrainian No. 10 seed Dayana Yastremska 6-4, 7-6 (4) in the quarterfinals at Courmayeur, Italy.

In the semis, Paolini will draw unseeded Croatian Donna Vekic, who was a 6-4, 6-4 winner over China’s Xinyu Wang.

The other semifinal will pit Russian third seed Liudmila Samsonova and fifth seed Clara Tauson of Denmark. Samsonova pushed past countrywoman Anna Kalinskaya 6-2, 6-1 on Friday, while Tauson converted 4 of 7 break points to earn a 3-6, 6-4, 6-2 decision over American ninth seed Ann Li.
