No. 1 seed Ashleigh Barty breezed to a 6-3, 6-2 win over No. 7 seeded Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan on Sunday in the final of the Adelaide International in Adelaide, Australia.

The home country favorite, Barty used a dominating service game to capture the title for the second time in the past three years. She lost just 13 points in nine service games overall on Sunday.

Knotted at three games apiece in the first set, Barty bounced back from a 15-40 deficit to win each of the next seven games to set the tone for the contest. She needed only 64 minutes to dispatch Rybakina to capture her 14th WTA singles title.

She posted her second win in as many career matches versus Rybakina after recording a 6-3, 6-2 win in the third round of the 2020 Australian Open.

Barty later teamed with Storm Sanders to post a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Darija Jurak Schreiber and Andreja Klepac in the doubles final.

Melbourne Summer Set 1

Second-seeded Simona Halep of Romania cruised to a 6-2, 6-3 win over Russia’s Veronika Kudermetova to the final in Melbourne, Australia.

Halep overcame a sluggish start before taking control en route to dispatching the third-seeded Kudermetova in 1 hour and 14 minutes. The victory was Halep’s 23rd WTA singles title and first in Australia.

Kudermetova didn’t help her cause by committing 27 unforced errors.

Melbourne Summer Set 2

American Amanda Anisimova rallied to a 7-5, 1-6, 6-4 win over Belarusian qualifier Aliaksandra Sasnovich in the tournament final in Melbourne.

Anisimova, who is ranked 78th in the world, trailed 2-4 in the first set and 0-3 in the third before her fourth ace ended the match. The title was the second in the career of the 20-year-old Anisimova, who also won the 2019 Bogota championship.

Anisimova became the first American woman to win a title in Australia since Sofia Kenin was victorious in the 2020 Australian Open.
