Frida Formann scored 17 points and No. 18 Colorado put together a suffocating defensive performance to cruise to a 79-30 victory over Oregon on Wednesday in the first round of the women’s Pac-12 tournament in Las Vegas.

Formann did most of her damage from outside, connecting on 5 of 6 3-pointers. Tameiya Sadler chipped in 11 points, Quay Miller added 10 and Jaylyn Sherrod finished with nine to go along with eight assists for the Buffaloes (22-8).

Colorado’s defense took care of the rest, holding the Ducks (11-21) to 18.9 percent shooting overall (10 of 53). Oregon went just 1-for-13 (7.7 percent) from 3-point range.

Grace VanSlooten paced the Ducks with nine points and five rebounds. Oregon didn’t have a scorer reach double figures.

The Buffaloes opened the game on a 13-2 run, then used a 13-0 burst to close the first quarter. They were up by at least 17 the rest of the way, with the lead topping out at 49.

Colorado advances to face fourth-seeded and 13th-ranked Oregon State in a quarterfinal Friday.
