No. 1 UConn head coach Geno Auriemma made his record 655th appearance in the Associated Press Top 25 women’s basketball poll on Monday, breaking a tie with Tara VanDerveer.
His Huskies (29-0), who received all 31 first-place votes, are the only unbeaten team in the country and have won 45 consecutive games dating back to last season.
Auriemma, 71, has been the coach at UConn since 1985. He has guided the Huskies to 12 national championships and is the winningest coach in NCAA Division I history.
The top five was unchanged this week with No. 2 UCLA (27-1), South Carolina (27-2), Texas (26-3) and Vanderbilt (25-3).
LSU (24-4) moved up to No. 6 from No. 7, the spot claimed by Oklahoma (21-6). The Sooners and No. 9 Iowa (22-5) climbed four places, while No. 8 Michigan (22-5) and No. 10 Louisville (24-5) each dropped two.
A four-game losing streak pushed Tennessee (16-10) out of the poll for the first time this season. Princeton (21-3) re-entered the poll after a one-week absence.
