Harrison Mevis made all three of his field-goal attempts, leading the Birmingham Stallions to a 21-12 win over the Michigan Panthers on Friday in Detroit.

The Stallions (1-1) held an 18-0 lead early in the fourth quarter before the Panthers (1-1) got back in the game on a 9-yard touchdown pass from Bryce Perkins to Marcus Simms that was followed by a three-point conversion rush by Perkins.

Mevis’ third field goal, a 31-yarder, gave Birmingham a 21-9 lead with 1:56 to play. Michigan could manage just a field goal in the final minute while falling short.

Deon Cain led the Stallions with four receptions for 84 yards and a touchdown. Ricky Person Jr. ran 17 times for 53 yards and a score, while Matt Corral produced 198 yards and a TD on 18-of-29 passing. Corral was intercepted twice.

Perkins completed 12 of 23 passes for 132 yards with a touchdown and an interception. Nate McCrary had 14 carries for 53 yards, and Simms, Siaosi Mariner and Gunnar Oakes each had three catches.
