Canada’s OverActive Media, parent company of Toronto Defiant, announced Wednesday that it has entered into a final agreement with Activision Blizzard to exit the Overwatch League.

Per its release, OAM will receive a termination payment of $6 million USD from Activision Blizzard.

OAM co-founder and interim CEO Adam Adamou said the group still has intentions to compete in Overwatch, despite Wednesday’s announcement.

“Our commitment to our teams and esports is stronger than ever,” Adamou said. “We believe this move is a crucial step to ensuring their continued success. We are eager to share more about our vision for Toronto Defiant and our plans to return to Overwatch esports. We expect more information to come on this front soon.”

Toronto Defiant join Chengdu Hunters as the two teams to officially end their relationships with the Overwatch League in 2023.
