Boston Legacy FC agreed to terms on a four-year, $1.5-million contract with goalkeeper Casey Murphy, ESPN reported Monday.

The NWSL expansion club confirmed Murphy’s deal runs through the 2029 season, with a mutual option for a fifth year in 2030.

The 29-year-old New Jersey product boasts seven years of NWSL experience and 15 clean sheets in 20 career appearances with the United States women’s national team.

“I’m excited to be in such a sports city. They call it ‘Title Town’ for a reason, and I’m excited to build a culture here from the ground up and be a part of something new,” Murphy said in a news release. “There’s a lot of exciting energy and ambition around this team that drew me to it.”

Murphy joins Boston from the North Carolina Courage, her NWSL club for the past five seasons. She is the Courage’s all-time regular season wins leader and helped them to NWSL Challenge Cup titles in 2022 and 2023.

Murphy played for OL Reign (now known as Seattle Reign FC) from 2019-20 after turning pro in 2018 with Montpellier in France.

A former All-American at Rutgers, Murphy was an unused substitute for the USWNT squads that won Olympic gold at Paris in 2024 and lost in the Round of 16 at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

“Casey’s track record gives her a strong foundation for this next chapter in Boston,” Legacy general manager Dome Guasch said in a release. “Beyond her quality as a goalkeeper, Casey is a true leader. We believe this will be a great addition as we build our first roster for 2026.”
