Defenseman Justin Schultz scored twice, including the winner at 3:39 of overtime, as the Seattle Kraken defeated the visiting New York Rangers 3-2 Thursday night.

Jared McCann also scored, Jordan Eberle had two assists and goaltender Martin Jones made 28 saves as the Kraken snapped a two-game losing streak.

Vincent Trocheck had a goal and an assist and Mika Zibanejad also tallied for the Rangers, who opened a four-game West Coast trip. Igor Shesterkin stopped 29 shots.

The winner came after Eberle drove down the left wing and toward the top of the crease. The puck was knocked off his stick and right to Schultz, who squeezed a one-timer between Shesterkin and the right post.

Schultz broke a 1-1 tie at 9:27 of the third on a wrist shot from the top of the right faceoff circle.

The Rangers forced overtime on Trocheck’s rebound goal with 1:54 left in regulation, as New York had a 6-on-4 advantage with Seattle’s Carson Soucy in the penalty box and the goalie pulled for an extra attacker.

The score was tied 1-1 after the first period despite the Rangers having a 14-6 edge in shots.

Seattle opened the scoring 2:45 into the game as McCann tipped Will Borgen’s shot from the right point between Shesterkin’s pads. Eberle got the secondary assist.

The Rangers tied it on the power play at 14:58. Trocheck controlled the puck in the high slot and fed Chris Kreider low on the right wing. Kreider immediately fired the puck across the top of the crease to Zibanejad, who put a one-timer into the open side of the net before Jones could get from post to post.

The second period was scoreless, though the Kraken flipped the shot chart with a 16-5 advantage.

Shesterkin made a glove save on a breakaway by Seattle’s Daniel Sprong early in the period.

Jones later stopped the Rangers’ Kaapo Kakko on a breakaway, making a pad save at the left post.
