Florida forward Sam Bennett sustained an apparent leg injury and left during the second period of the Panthers’ Monday road game against the Boston Bruins.

The Panthers later said Bennett would not return to the game, citing a lower-body injury. He took just 11 shifts for 7:54 of ice time before needing to be helped off the ice with his injury.

Bennett was making his season debut on Monday after missing the first seven games with a lower-body injury. He was taken off injured reserve earlier in the day.

Last season, Bennett tallied 40 points (16 goals, 24 points) in 63 games for Florida after posting career highs of 28 goals the year before.

The Bruins, meanwhile, lost defenseman Matt Grzelcyk to an upper-body injury during the game.
