Bruins captain Patrice Bergeron is “feeling better” and is questionable for Game 2 on Wednesday night, Boston coach Jim Montgomery said Tuesday.
The star center missed Boston’s 3-1 win Monday against the visiting Florida Panthers in Game 1 of their first-round Stanley Cup playoff series due to an illness.
Bergeron had a bug that was reportedly going around the Bruins’ locker room ahead of the start of the postseason and was a game-time decision before being scratched. Pavel Zacha moved up to Boston’s top-line center spot and registered an assist.
Bergeron, 37, will not skate with the team on Tuesday, Montgomery said.
In 78 games this season, Bergeron posted 58 points (27 goals, 31 assists) and passed the career 1,000-point mark early in the year. He is a five-time winner of the Selke Trophy as the NHL forward who excels most on defense.
