Colorado Avalanche forward Ross Colton will miss six-to-eight weeks with a broken foot, coach Jared Bednar announced Wednesday.

Colton, the team’s leading scorer with eight goals, was injured in Monday night’s game after blocking a shot. Bednar said Colton has been placed on injured reserve.

Bednar also announced that winger Miles Wood will miss seven-to-10 days with an upper-body injury.

It’s the latest blow to a team that’s already without forwards Jonathan Drouin and Artturi Lehkonen (shoulder).

Colton, who entered Wednesday third in the league in goals, was injured in the second period of Monday’s loss to the Chicago Blackhawks after blocking a shot by Seth Jones.

Colton, 28, has nine points on the season. He had 40 points (17 goals, 23 assists) all of last season. He’s in the second season of a four-year deal worth $16 million.

Bednar said he didn’t have a medical update on Lehkonen as of yet but said the Fin will likely need more time before taking contact.

Drouin (upper body injury) has played in just one game this season.

Wood has one goal in 10 games this season.
