Toronto Maple Leafs center Auston Matthews is expected to make his season debut, delayed because of wrist surgery, on Monday.

In practice Sunday, Matthews joined Nick Ritchie and Mitchell Marner on the top line, with captain John Tavares moving to the second line with Michael Bunting and William Nylander.

Meanwhile, goaltender Petr Mrazak is expected to be sidelined two weeks with a groin injury, coach Sheldon Keefe said.

Mrazek sustained the injury during the Maple Leafs’ 3-2 loss to the Senators in Ottawa on Thursday.

Matthews, 24, had the surgery on Aug. 13 and missed the first three games of the season. He scored 41 goals in 52 games last season to lead the NHL.

The No. 1 overall pick in the 2016 NHL Draft, Matthews has 351 points (199 goals, 152 assists) in 334 career games.

Mrazek, 29, allowed three goals on 26 shots on Thursday in his first game since signing a three-year, $11.4 million contract with the Maple Leafs in the summer.

He owns a 128-97-31 record with 24 shutouts, a 2.60 goals-against average and .911 save percentage in 276 career appearances (251 starts) with the Detroit Red Wings, Philadelphia Flyers, Carolina Hurricanes and Maple Leafs.

University of Toronto goaltender Alex Bishop signed a one-day amateur tryout deal to serve as the backup in the return match versus the Senators on Saturday. Jack Campbell made the start and had 20 saves in the 3-1 win.

Goaltender Michael Hutchinson was called up from the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League on an emergency basis on Sunday morning.
