Connor Hellebuyck made 33 saves and Andrew Copp scored two goals to lead the Winnipeg Jets to a 3-0 road victory over the Detroit Red Wings on Thursday.

Hellebuyck recorded his second shutout of the season for Winnipeg, which was playing its first game in a week after games against the Seattle Kraken and Minnesota Wild were postponed because of COVID-19 concerns.

Coming off a road trip to the West Coast, Detroit has now lost four straight games, with two of those defeats in regulation. The Red Wings have also lost six of their last seven.

Alex Nedeljkovic had 29 saves in goal for Detroit.

The Red Wings went 0-for-5 on the power play, while also giving up a short-handed goal.

Winnipeg opened the scoring at 5:41 of the first period on a goal by Copp, who scored from an extremely tough angle. Copp fired a shot from behind the end line near the corner that squeezed inside the near post and past Nedeljkovic to make it 1-0.

The score remained that way until Copp struck again with 8:53 remaining in the second period.

Copp took a pass at center ice from Kyle Connor, skated in toward the Detroit goal and fired a shot from the edge of the right face-off circle and beat Nedelijovic stick side to give the Jets a 2-0 lead.

Detroit had an opportunity late in the third period when they went on a two-man advantage with 4:29 remaining. It turned into a 6-on-3 situation when the Red Wings decided to pull Nedeljkovic from goal.

But not only could the Red Wings not score, Connor scored an empty-net, short-handed goal with 2:31 remaining to seal the victory.

Winnipeg failed to score on its only power play of the game.
