The Minnesota Vikings placed perennial Pro Bowl cornerback Patrick Peterson on the reserve/COVID-19 list on Monday.

Peterson said in June he is vaccinated, suggesting he tested positive on a breakthrough case. He’ll need to be asymptomatic and return two negative tests 24 hours apart in order to play this week against the Detroit Lions.

Peterson played all 70 defensive snaps in the Vikings’ loss to San Francisco on Sunday. Peterson just returned to action in Week 11 after spending time on injured reserve with a hamstring injury.

Peterson has 21 tackles – two for loss – and two passes defensed in eight starts in his first season with the Vikings.

He made eight Pro Bowls and earned three All-Pro honors in 10 seasons with the Arizona Cardinals. He has 28 career interceptions.
