Tennessee Titans receiver Treylon Burks is in the NFL’s concussion protocol after briefly losing consciousness after a fall in Thursday night’s game in Pittsburgh.

Titans coach Mike Vrabel updated Burks’ condition on Friday, saying he had been in communication via text and was expected to be at the team facilities in the afternoon.

“From what it looked like I would say that it’s probably going to be as good of a prognosis as what it could’ve been just looking at the visual of all that,” Vrabel said. “We understand what the risks are involved when Treylon sold out to make a play. I’m hopeful, we’re all hopeful that we’ll get him back as soon as possible.”

Burks was carted off the field with 2:06 left in the 20-16 loss to the Steelers.

He was injured while trying to make a catch deep down the left sideline. He landed out of bounds and rolled awkwardly, with the trainers quickly responding to him.

“There was a brief loss of consciousness,” Vrabel said. “That’s why they reacted in the manner in which they did. It sounds like everybody did exactly what they were supposed to do based on the protocol and making sure that Treylon’s well-being was looked after as quickly and correctly as possible.”

Burks, 23, raised a thumb as he was being carted off the field and later walked to the team bus with assistance.

He caught two passes for 23 yards and rushed once for 5 yards in the game. The 2022 first-round draft pick has eight catches for 122 yards and no touchdowns in five games this season.
