Texas starting receiver Joshua Moore is no longer with the team, Longhorns coach Steve Sarkisian said Monday.

Sarkisian said the 6-foot-1 junior will enter the NCAA transfer portal.

“That’s his option and opportunity to do that,” Sarkisian said. “That’s what college football provides and we wish him the best of luck.”

Sarkisian and Moore reportedly had a heated exchange at practice last week, according to The Athletic.

Moore caught two passes for 32 yards in Saturday’s 30-7 loss at Iowa State, giving him 24 receptions for 265 yards and three touchdowns in nine games this season.

He was an All-Big 12 honorable mention selection in 2020 after leading the Longhorns with 30 catches, 472 receiving yards and nine touchdowns in 10 games. He caught two touchdown passes in a 55-23 victory over Colorado in the Alamo Bowl.

Moore also played six games in 2018 before a season-ending shoulder injury, catching seven passes for 53 yards and one TD.

He sat out the 2019 season after being suspended following an arrest for unlawful gun possession, a misdemeanor charge for which he received deferred adjudication.

Moore joined the Longhorns as a four-star prospect in the Class of 2018.
