NCAAF: USC receiver Bru McCoy set for third transfer

University of Southern California wide receiver Bru McCoy, who has played just one season of college football and sat out two others, is entering the transfer portal for a third time, multiple media outlets reported Thursday.

A highly recruited high school player, McCoy enrolled at USC in the spring of 2019 but soon transferred to Texas.

The Ranchos Palos Verde, Calif., native never played in a game for the Longhorns before transferring back to USC.

McCoy sat out the 2019 season at USC because of an illness before compiling 21 catches for 236 yards and two touchdowns as a redshirt freshman in 2020.

He never got into a game during the 2021 following an arrest on suspicion of domestic violence. Charges against McCoy eventually were dropped but the Trojans never reinstated him to the team.

USC finished 4-8 in 2021, with head coach Clay Helton getting fired after the team’s 1-1 start.
