Adrian Martinez ran for 148 yards and four touchdowns to lead Kansas State to a 41-34 win over No. 6 Oklahoma on Saturday in Norman, Okla.

It was the Wildcats’ third win over the Sooners in their last four meetings.

Martinez and running back Deuce Vaughn gave Oklahoma fits from the start, then continued pouring it on in the second half. The Sooners (3-1, 0-1 Big 12) had allowed just 30 points combined in their first three games.

Martinez delivered the backbreaking run with less than three minutes remaining, breaking off a 55-yard run on third-and-16 to set up his touchdown run moments later to put the Wildcats ahead by two scores.

Martinez passed for a season-high 234 yards with a touchdown for the Wildcats (3-1, 1-0).

No. 1 Georgia 39, Kent State 22

Tight end Brock Bowers rushed for two touchdowns to fuel the top-ranked Bulldogs to a victory over the visiting Golden Flashes. Bowers scored on both his carries, including the first on a 75-yard sweep in the first quarter.

Georgia (4-0), which entered the game averaging 155.7 rushing yards per game, totaled a season-high 257 yards and four touchdowns on the ground. Quarterback Stetson Bennett and Kendall Milton each ran for a score.

Georgia entered the game with the nation’s top-ranked defense after allowing just 10 points and only one touchdown in three games. But the Bulldogs committed three turnovers, which led to 10 points for the Golden Flashes (1-3) and kept the 45-point underdogs in the game until the fourth quarter.

No. 2 Alabama 55, Vanderbilt 3

Bryce Young threw for 385 yards and four touchdowns in less than three quarters as the Crimson Tide dominated the Commodores in a Southeastern Conference rout in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

In outgaining Vanderbilt (3-2, 0-1) 628-129 and allowing just nine first downs, Alabama (4-0, 1-0) made a case to return to the top spot in the polls after No. 1 Georgia muddled through a 39-22 win earlier Saturday against Kent State.

AJ Swann completed 13 of 26 passes for 115 yards for the Commodores, who have already won more games than they did all of last year. But they were physically overmatched Saturday, allowing five sacks and managing just one third-down conversion in 13 attempts.

No. 3 Ohio State 52, Wisconsin 21

C.J. Stroud threw five touchdowns as the Buckeyes scored early and often to defeat the Badgers in the Big Ten opener for both teams in Columbus, Ohio.

J.J. McCarthy completed 18 of 26 passes for 220 yards and two touchdowns as Michigan (4-0, 1-0) subdued Maryland (3-1, 0-1), which is 0-27 against ranked conference foes since joining the Big Ten in 2014.

Maryland quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa completed 20 of 30 passes for 207 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions, but struggled after sustaining a blind-side hit from Michael Morris in the third quarter. Tagovailoa was replaced in the fourth quarter by Billy Edwards Jr.

DJ Uiagalelei passed for 371 yards and a career-best five touchdown passes as the Tigers fought off an upset bid against the Demon Deacons at Winston-Salem, N.C.

Uiagalelei’s 21-yard scoring pass to Davis Allen on the second possession of overtime was the decisive score for Clemson (4-0, 2-0 ACC). Allen caught two scoring passes for the Tigers, while Beaux Collins, Jake Briningstool and Brannon Spector had one apiece. Will Shipley rushed for 104 yards and one touchdown.

Wake Forest star Sam Hartman threw a school-record six touchdown passes but couldn’t prevent Wake Forest (3-1, 0-1) from losing to Clemson for the 14th consecutive time. Hartman passed for 337 yards to raise his career total to 10,228, sixth-most in ACC history, leaping over four former players — including ex-Tigers Deshaun Watson and Trevor Lawrence.

No. 7 USC 17, Oregon State 14

Caleb Williams’ late touchdown pass to Jordan Addison and four interceptions made the difference as the Trojans escaped with a win over the Beavers in Corvallis, Ore.

The Trojans trailed 14-10 following an 18-yard Jam Griffin touchdown run, set up after the Oregon State defense forced a punt from deep in the USC end zone. The Beavers quickly capitalized on short field position for the score and appeared poised for a game-winning defensive stand on the ensuing possession.

The Beavers limited Williams — who came into Saturday completing more than 74 percent of his pass attempts for the season — to 16-of-36 passing for 180 yards. Oregon State struck first with Deshaun Fenwick’s 4-yard touchdown carry in the second quarter, then nursed the narrow advantage with an outstanding defensive effort.

Anthony Richardson connected on a 3-yard touchdown pass to Ricky Pearsall to trim Tennessee’s lead to 38-33 with 17 seconds left. The two-point conversion attempt failed, however Florida recovered the ensuing onside kick. Richardson, who threw for 453 yards and had four total touchdowns (two passing, two rushing), saw his bid for a last-gasp TD pass sail into the arms of the Volunteers’ Kamal Hadden to end the game.

No. 17 Baylor 31, Iowa State 24

The visiting Bears surged to a 17-point lead, then held off a late Cyclones rally for a win in the Big 12 Conference opener for both teams in Ames, Iowa.

Baylor (3-1, 1-0 Big 12) was led by Blake Shapen, who produced 19-of-26 passing for 238 yards with three touchdowns spread to three different receivers. The victory marked the Bears’ first at Iowa State since 2016.
