Three members of the UConn football coaching staff, including interim head coach Lou Spanos, and two players have tested positive for COVID-19.

Offensive coordinator/offensive line coach Frank Giufre, tight ends coach Corey Edsall, senior left tackle Ryan Van Demark and freshman offensive lineman Will Meyer have also tested positive, per the team website on Friday.

All five members of the program are fully vaccinated and are currently isolating. Two unvaccinated team members were identified as close contacts and quarantined.

The Huskies (0-6) are scheduled to visit UMass (0-5) on Saturday afternoon in Amherst, Mass.

The school announced that defensive line coach Dennis Dottin-Carter will assume head coaching responsibilities during Spanos’ absence. Dottin-Carter is in his fifth year on the Huskies’ coaching staff.
