The accident happened in Chapin, S.C., and ESPN reported that Robertson sustained a major lower leg injury.

“Travian Robertson was involved in a car accident this morning. He is currently in the hospital in stable condition,” the university said in a statement. “We expect him to make a full recovery and be back out on the field soon. Please keep the families of those involved in the accident in your prayers and respect the Robertson family’s privacy during this time.”

Robertson, 36, is entering his third season as the Gamecocks’ defensive line coach. He played on the defensive line for the Gamecocks from 2007-11, recording 53 tackles and 6.5 sacks in 27 games in his final two seasons there. He was also a team captain in 2011.
