Lance Guidry went from defensive coordinator at Marshall to Tulane to Miami in a span of 2½ weeks.

The Hurricanes lured Guidry away from Tulane on Tuesday, multiple outlets reported, to fill their DC vacancy.

Guidry replaces Kevin Steele, who left Miami after one season to return to Alabama. Miami head coach Mario Cristobal needed just two days to land on Guidry.

Tulane named Guidry its DC on Jan. 20.

Marshall’s defense ranked in the top five nationally in six categories in the 2022 season, including first in third-down defense, third in yards per play (4.6) and fifth in rush defense (93.0 yards per game). Marshall also finished eighth in total defense (294.5) in all of FBS.

Guidry joined Marshall in 2021 and has also had stops at Western Kentucky, Southeastern Louisiana and FAU. He went 21-12 as the head coach at FCS McNeese State, his alma mater, from 2016-18.

Cristobal also has an opening at offensive coordinator after parting ways with Josh Gattis last month.
