Max Duggan engineered a methodical 67-yard drive to set up Griffin Kell for a game-winning 25-yard field goal with 6 seconds remaining Saturday as TCU outlasted Kansas 31-28 at Fort Worth, Texas.

The Horned Frogs (5-6, 3-5) overcame a seven-point halftime deficit by scoring on each of their first three second-half possessions to gain a 28-14 lead.

The Jayhawks (2-9, 1-7) bounced back with touchdown strikes of 28 and 10 yards from Jalon Daniels to Luke Grimm and Jared Casey at the 9:23 and 4:46 marks of the fourth quarter for a 28-28 tie.

Duggan, playing with a broken bone in his foot after missing the previous two games, confidently drove TCU downfield, generating five first downs, including an 11-yard reception and 14-yard rush by Derius Davis.

Duggan passed for 166 yards and added 74 rushing, while engineering a 99-yard drive that featured a 49-yard strike to Davis. Kendre Miller also returned off an injury to rush for 112 yards, including a 56-yard touchdown. Emari Demercado added 89 yards.

Daniels, who officially burned a redshirt by playing in his fifth game of the season, completed 22 of 30 passes for 255 yards.

His two late TDs forged a 28-28 tie as the Jayhawks looked to follow up on an upset at Texas last week that snapped a 56-game conference road losing streak.

TCU, however, countered with 492 total yards, including 326 on the ground.

Kansas secured two first-half takeaways, including an interception in the end zone by Jacobee Bryant, to lead 14-7 at halftime.

Daniels passed for 133 first-half yards, while Devin Neal rushed for 59 yards on 14 carries, including a 2-yard score. Neal apparently injured his shoulder late in the half and did not return.

TCU scored on its first possession, driving 83 yards in just five plays. Davis scored on a jet sweep he busted for 43 yards.
