Cameron Hildreth scored 19 points and Wake Forest got back on track by rolling past visiting South Carolina State in a 105-74 victory Wednesday night in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Damari Monsanto had 16 points, Bobi Klintman notched 15, Tyree Appleby scored 13 points, and Matthew Marsh and Jao Ituka each added 10 points for Wake Forest (5-1), which had a nice bounce-back outing after a 77-75 overtime loss to Loyola Marymount on Sunday in the final of the Jamaica Classic.

Wake Forest scored more than 50 points in each half.

Lesown Hallums led SC State with 14 points and Jordan Simpson added 13. Teammates Rahsaan Edwards, Raquan Brown, DaJuan Bates and Cameron Jones all finished with 10 points for the Bulldogs (0-6), who’ve played only road games so far this season.

Four of the double-figure scorers were reserves for SC State, which was 4-for-24 on 3-pointers.

The Demon Deacons hit at a 9-for-17 rate on 3-pointers. They also were frequent visitors to the free-throw line, making 24 of 31 of those shots.

Wake Forest had three bench players with double-figure point totals.

Monsanto, who made his first start of the season and second in two seasons with the Demon Deacons, bagged four 3s and Appleby drained three.

Hildreth, making his second start of the season, shot 7 of 10 from the field, while Appleby delivered nine assists. The Demon Deacons totaled 23 assists, though they were charged with 16 turnovers.

Wake Forest guard Daivien Williamson, limited to 21 minutes against LMU, sat out with an injury. The Demon Deacons improved to 4-0 at home.

Wake Forest played with urgency right away, building a 10-point lead in the first eight minutes. The Demon Deacons hit three 3-point shots in the final 2 1/2 minutes of the first half for a 51-27 lead at the break.
