Freshman guard Isaiah Collier, Southern California’s second-leading scorer, will miss four to six weeks because of a hand injury.

The school announced the diagnosis on Thursday, a day after Collier was injured as the Trojans lost 72-64 to Washington State in Los Angeles.

Collier had 12 points in 23 minutes against the Cougars before leaving shortly before the midpoint of the second half. Washington State led by two at the time, and USC held several leads late in the contest before the visitors scored the game’s final nine points in the last two minutes.

In USC’s previous game, Collier put up a season-high 26 points as the Trojans defeated visiting Stanford 93-79 on Saturday.

Through 16 games, Collier is averaging 15.4 points, a team-best 4.1 assists and 2.6 rebounds. Only Boogie Ellis (18.7 points per game) has a higher scoring average for USC (8-8, 2-3 Pac-12).

The Trojans are back in action Saturday at Colorado.
