Guard Both Gach received his NCAA transfer waiver and is eligible to play immediately for Utah.

Gach started his career at Utah in 2018, appearing in 57 games over two seasons, but transferred to Minnesota for the 2020-21 season.

“We are excited for Both first and foremost,” Utah coach Craig Smith said in a news release. “Both has been a consummate pro during this whole process, especially when he had to watch his teammates instead of helping them on the floor Tuesday night in our season opener. We can’t wait to have him join us back on the floor this Saturday”

The Utes opened the season with a 70-56 win over Abilene Christian and will host Sacramento State on Saturday night.

In his one season with the Golden Gophers, Gach averaged 6.8 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 29 games (16 starts). The 6-foot-6 Gach averaged 14.7 points and 6.4 rebounds in seven nonconference games but struggled to match that production in more physical contests within the Big Ten.

In his first go-round with Utah, Gach averaged 10.7 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.9 assists in 27 games (25 starts) in 2019-20.

As a 2018-19 freshman, Gach played in 30 games (14 starts) and averaged 7.7 points, 2.1 rebounds and 2.1 assists.
