Johnny Davis scored 25 points and took over in the second half as No. 15 Wisconsin pulled away for a 77-63 Big Ten Conference victory over Michigan on Sunday in Madison, Wis.

Davis scored nine consecutive points to fuel an 18-2 run, putting the Badgers in front 56-41 with just under nine minutes remaining.

The Wolverines made just 1 of 16 shots over more than eight minutes and missed nine straight before Caleb Houstan’s 3-pointer from the left corner. Michigan also committed five turnovers during that stretch.

The post-game handshakes were marred by a brief altercation in front of the Michigan bench. Punches were thrown, including by Michigan coach Juwan Howard at Wisconsin assistant coach Joe Krabbenhoft.

In the second half, Davis had 17 points, making 7 of 10 shots from the field, as Wisconsin (21-5, 12-4) pulled away from a 31-31 tie at the break. Steven Crowl added 11 points for the game and Chucky Hepburn, Tyler Wahl and Brad Davison had 10 each as all five starters scored in double figures.

Hunter Dickinson had 21 points — but just six in the second half — for Michigan (14-11, 8-7). Eli Brooks added 14 and DeVante’ Jones 11 for the Wolverines, who were just 4 of 25 from 3-point range.

Dickinson capped a 15-point first half with two free throws to pull Michigan even at 31-31 at the break. Dickinson hit 6 of 10 shots in the first half but had just five attempts in the second half.

Wisconsin took its biggest lead of the first half with a stretch of six field goals in eight attempts, going in front 23-16 on Davis’ drive down the lane.

Michigan dominated the glass 23-13 in the first half, including eight offensive rebounds for a 6-2 advantage in second-chance points. Wisconsin was 0 for 6 beyond the arc in the first half, while the Wolverines were 1 for 10.
