Five-star Nigerian center Adem Bona committed to UCLA on Monday, choosing the Bruins over Kentucky.

Bona is the nation’s 19th best recruit overall and fifth-best at his position, per the 247Sports’ composite rankings.

Kansas, Arizona State and Baylor were also in the running.

A 6-foot-9 center, Bona was born in Nigeria and plays at Prolific Prep in Napa, Calif.

Bona joins 5-star Amari Bailey and guard Dylan Andrews as part of UCLA’s Class of 2022, elevating the Bruins’ haul to No. 9 nationally, per 247Sports.

“This was a really difficult decision and I had to choose between two great schools in UCLA and Kentucky,” Bona told 247Sports on Monday. “They are two of the greatest schools in college history with great coaches and great programs. It came down to where I felt like I could get more opportunity to get to the next level and where I could get better. It was very tough for me picking one school over the other, so I just had to make the tough choice.”
