Marcus Carr poured in 21 points to lead a balanced offensive attack as No. 10 Texas was in control throughout in a workmanlike 89-75 win over Oklahoma State on Tuesday in Austin, Texas.

The Longhorns (17-3, 6-2 Big 12) led for all but the first 2 1/2 minutes of the game, held an eight-point edge at halftime and never let Oklahoma State get closer than six points in the second half. Texas has won two straight after a loss at Iowa State on Jan. 17 and is now 10-2 with interim coach Rodney Terry at the helm.

Timmy Allen scored 17 and Brock Cunningham added 15 points for the Longhorns, with Dylan Disu racking up 12 points and eight rebounds. Texas swept the regular-season series from the Cowboys.

Kalib Boone and John-Michael Wright each scored 18 points and Bryce Thompson tallied 11 for Oklahoma State (11-9, 3-5), which had a two-game winning streak snapped.

The Longhorns ruled the game’s first seven minutes, jumping in front 17-6 on a Carr 3-pointer. Oklahoma State rallied to within three points by making four of its five shots over a three-minute span, capped by Thompson’s 3-pointer with 4:33 to play in the first half.

The Cowboys went scoreless and missed their final five shots over the last 3 1/2 minutes of the half. Texas forged a 5-0 run on a jumper by Carr and a 3-pointer by Sir’Jabari Rice, the latter with 29 second remaining, to assume a 40-32 advantage at the break.

Carr led all scorers with 12 points before halftime while Boone paced Oklahoma State with eight.

The Longhorns pushed their advantage to 13 points by scoring the first five points of the second half, but Oklahoma State clawed within 52-46 on a Thompson 3-pointer with 13:29 to go.

Texas answered every one of the Cowboys’ punches with a counterpunch of its own, building its lead back to 13 points on a Cunningham 3-pointer with 4:14 left.
