Kansas landed a commitment Sunday night from four-star center Davion Adkins, the fourth recruit to choose the Jayhawks in the past week.

The 6-foot-9 senior from Prolific Prep in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., picked head coach Bill Self’s program over Houston and Rutgers after visiting all three schools last month.

Adkins is ranked as the No. 3 center, the No. 6 player in Florida and the No. 30 recruit in the Class of 2026 by the 247Sports composite.

“The atmosphere at Kansas football was terrific; everyone is connected,” Adkins told ESPN of his visit. “The fans really support their programs, and the basketball team sticks together.”

Since Sept. 28, the Jayhawks also have received commitments from five-star guard Taylen Kinney and four-star wing Trent Perry as well as five-star Class of 2027 forward Javon Bardwell.

Adkins, who has a 7-foot-2 wingspan and 9-foot standing reach, averaged 14.1 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.6 blocks on the Adidas 3SSB circuit in the spring and summer.

He said he has a strong relationship with Self and expects to grow under the Hall of Fame coach’s tutelage.

“When I watched practice, it was intense and detailed. Coach Self is a winner,” Adkins told ESPN. “He is a great guy. Off the court, he can be your friend. But when it’s time for practice or games, he is going to get competitive.

“He is not going to sugarcoat anything. He is going to tell me exactly what I need to do to develop and prepare me for the next level.”

Adkins will be sidelined for about a month after undergoing emergency surgery Saturday to repair a sports hernia, according to a statement from Prolific Prep.
